Even though Harvey Davis and his wife were fools for taking up Singapore citizenship; I mean they are English and Thai for heavens sake (not Singaporean) and yet chose to dig their son's grave by making him a Singaporean without doing basic research on NS laws and choosing Singapore citizenship, LOL, STILL, my compassionate side says they must be forgiven for their foolishness and let Ben be excused from NS due to his prodigious football talent, something Singapore lacks! Harvey Davis, please do better research next time.

Why not agree to a deferment.. what harm can it do. Ask him to contribute in the off season to coach Singapore juniors

Ben Davis is a talented individual who deserves the opportunity to carve out his name for the benefit of Singapore and his future. Not all Singaporeans have his talent and please do not let it go to waste.
NS deferment will not cause any harm. We have more than enough manpower to serve NS.

He should be given a chance to move towards his dreams and passion. Just because YOU MINDEF can't move pass the idea of not giving a deferment, he might not be able to achieve his dreams. What much difference can a two year change for you , MINDEF. It will not affect you but it will affect Ben alot. but
