MK Council to prevent traveller encampments on the H8 and around RAF/Derwent fields

The green on the westbound H8 (A421) between the One Stop Community Stores Redway and Tattenhoe Lane, and the playing fields between Tattenhoe Lane and Derwent Drive have recently been plagued by illegal traveller encampments, including 5 separate camps on the H8 and three on the Derwent site in 2018 alone. The travellers always leave a dreadful mess behind them, with fly-tipped waste and garden rubbish and other waste, including human faeces. This costs the council (and thus local council-tax-payers) thousands of pounds to clear up each time they move on. In addition, the presence of the travellers has been associated with the vandalizing of local street lighting and the intimidation of local residents. This is causing residents who live in the are considerable anxiety and stress. It is vital that Milton Keynes Council takes urgent action, through the installation of appropriate defences and the prompt use of all legal means including injunctions, to prevent these encampments from taking place.
