gender-neutral bathroom

gender-neutral bathroom
At Milton High school they only have a male and female bathroom. Many students at Milton are trans and not allowed in the gender bathroom they prefer. Along with this Many kids are also Non-binary which means they don't identify as female or male, having gender-neutral bathrooms can help boost their confidence and help students go on throughout their everyday life without feeling forced to pick one or the other. There is also the issue of lgbtq+ people already being harassed at the school and for them, going into a bathroom with the same people that harass them can be quite frightening. these gender-neutral bathrooms would solve a lot of these issues and most definitely help with both the stigma around lgbtq+ people as well as giving these kiddos a boost of confidence and help validate their feelings. I believe that creating these bathrooms would help these individuals find a common ground and a place where they can hopefully find the courage to start new friendships and help the atmosphere in the school feel more accepting and free. i also believe that these bathrooms should be full bathrooms with multiple stalls and a handicapped stall. I don't think that it would be fair to give these kids anything less than the other binary students are getting. I know there are concerns about things that might happen in a larger bathroom as far as safety and following the rules. however, I think that as long as these rules are emphasized and enforced I don't believe that the concerns about the rules should be the reason that these bathrooms are not installed in our school.
