Compensate MU Students Living in the Dorms

Compensate MU Students Living in the Dorms
Why this petition matters
The quality of the dorms has always been an issue at MU, but this semester things have been increasingly worse. First off, the heat has stopped working for days at a time, causing some rooms to be 50° at times. Maintenance comes to “fix” it, but it ultimately breaks again within the week. Along with this, the hot water heaters go down just as often, leaving students with ice cold water on top of already cold rooms. To make matters worse, the dorms flood constantly, leaving the halls smelling disgusting and the already present mold continues to grow. This leaves students cold, miserable, and many times sick, as many people are allergic to mold. All of this is major issues, while the dorms still struggle to have stable internet connection when some classes are still being taught online.
All of these issues have been addressed multiple times by students and their parents, and it seems as though the blame just gets pushed around from maintenance, to the housing supervisors, and eventually down to the RAs who are just trying to relay information and keep their residents safe and happy while living in the dorms.
Residents are paying over $8000 a year to live on campus yet they are not receiving the proper services (stable wifi, working heating and hot water) and are stuck living in unsafe conditions (constant water leaks and mold issues). Because of this Millersville University should compensate the students whether that be a partial or full refund until they can get the issues sorted out and provide the residents with the quality housing that they advertise to the students and their parents during tours and open houses.
