We all know how hard us show choir kids work. We have vocal boot camp, choreography boot camp, and hours and hours of practice. Not only do we dance, but we also sing while dancing, which requires a lot of hard work. According to dictionary.com, the basic definition of a sport is “an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature. Show choir is so physically demanding, and it requires even more activity than some sports. For example, basketball, wrestling, and running are sports that face no opposition to their title because they all require physical strength and hours of training. Activities like dance, show choir, and arguably marching band, also require physical strength and hours of training, but the difference here is these activities also require an artistic or musical component. We all know how out of breath we can be after performing our show. Well, what if you could get P.E. credits for show choir, knocking out 2 requirements in 1 year. That is what I'm trying to do. I believe that people should be getting the credit they deserve for working so hard to make such a beautiful show. If we could make this happen, imagine how much more time we would have to fit electives to explore the things that we want to do? The school administration says that they want us to explore and find what we want to do by the end of high school, but we can't fully achieve this unless we have enough time in our schedules! Hopefully, this petition will make us able to get the credit we deserve for doing such an active sport! Thank you!
