Melanie Stubbs, of the Millard County Bookmobile, informed me that the Millard County Commissioners have voted to discontinue the bookmobile...FOREVER! A lack of taxes being generated and allocating money for a new police officer are reasons why the bookmobile must cease.

Although we wholeheartedly support funding for law enforcement, the loss of the bookmobile will deeply impact our schoolchildren, elders and other community members who are not able to drive over 80 miles for a library book. The bookmobile plays a critical role for students who are required to write several book reports throughout the year for English and Language Arts classes.

Online book resources can be cumbersome, difficult to load, or expensive to purchase. The bookmobile offers a wide variety of books to suit a wide variety of interests and reading levels.

Please sign the petition asking the Millard County Commissioners to reconsider and develop an alternative solution which supports law enforcement and education for those in rural areas of Millard County. Save the Bookmobile!
