A historic district will boost property values and tourism, provide rehabilitation tax deductions for local businesses, and increase historic preservation to maintain our small town appeal. It will also generate widespread economic appeal to our community which will drive businesses to Milford and increase jobs. By providing tax deductions for the restoration of income producing properties the owners of those properties will be able to afford rent reductions, which will enable businesses to devote more revenue toward growth and job creation. Home owners will benefit from increased property values which will help revive our sluggish real estate market. The borough government would benefit from the resulting increased tax revenue while gaining the option of reducing tax rates due to this increase.
