Garmin- update 920XT firmware so we can charge on the run!

Dear Garmin- why is the 920XT the ONLY Garmin multisport watch that can't be charged on the run?
While the Garmin Forerunner 920XT claims up to 24 hours tracking in normal mode and up to 40 hours in UltraTrac mode. In reality it doesn't get anywhere near these numbers. This affects a lot of ultra runners.
This isn't much of a problem on watches like the Garmin 910XT which can be charged on the run. It turns out that the Garmin Fenix 3 can also be charged on the run and uses pretty much the same internal hardware and software as the 920XT. The 920XT has a maintenance mode that allows it to charge while recording, so all we need is a firmware update......
So why can't we charge the 920XT during activities? Nobody at Garmin is saying, but the most likely answer I get is that it was a marketing decision.
Most of us bought the 920XT before the Fenix 3 was available, so please don't punish us for being early adopters!
Come on Garmin- I already own over $2000 of your products and I'm deeply disappointed that the best answer I can get is 'Buy a Fenix'
But why would we do that if you treat your customers like this?
Thanks for reading
PS here is the link showing that the 920XT is the only multisport watch that cannot be charged while recording-
