Jessica Miller started this petition to Governor Michael L. Parson

Many students are not able to go to the college of their choice because of the outrageous cost of attendance. Statistics from 2018 shoes that a four year private university costs the average students $34,740, a public four year costs the average in-state student $9,970 and an out of state student $25,620. Students aren't going to college just for fun either though, in 2020, two thirds of job openings will require post-secondary education or training.

While we realize that making college free isn't realistic, we believe that it is important to at least significantly decrease the price. To do this, we will ask each state to lower their funding for public K-12 education by 6% and instead, fund higher educations. Currently the average funding from states that goes to K-12 is 25% and the funding that goes to higher education is 13% but with our change it will change K-12 funding to 19% and higher education to 18%.  We will then distribute this money by making Ivy League School costs $35,000, Public Universities (in or out of state) $20,000, and Community College $5,000, WITHOUT Financil Aid.

We hope that you take the step towards cheaper education with us.
