I work in an HR related field and I would like to know what is your plan to help employers?

Employers are facing an unprecedented labor shortage. They are struggling and facing serious issues that will eventually impact their ability to stay in business.  All because they cannot find employees.

Drive down any street - in any town and you will see dozens of "Hiring" signs.  All these jobs and no workers? Where are the workers? I will tell you where they are: at home or on vacation somewhere. They can work, but are refusing to work for one reason only: The supplemental unemployment payments that the federal government provides claimants on top of their state unemployment benefits.

Overall, these payments are greater than the worker’s previous pay checks. What was intended to be a short-term financial assistance for the vulnerable and displaced during the height of the pandemic has turned into a dangerous federal entitlement, incentivizing and paying workers to stay at home rather than encouraging them to return to the workplace.

I've heard this straight from the "horses mouth" and also heard such absurd statements as "hit me up in a few months, I'm on vacation till then - maybe I'll be looking for a job" or "nah, I just applied for that job because I had to, I'm good" as they laugh and hang up the phone when I call to see if they wish to interview.  How can any sane person think this is acceptable?
Those programs include the following:

*Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA)
*Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC)
*Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (EPUC)
*Mixed Earners Unemployment Compensation (MEUC)
*Emergency Unemployment Relief for Governmental Entities and Nonprofit Organizations
*Temporary Federal Funding of the First Week of Compensable Regular *Unemployment for States with No Waiting Week

It's time for Ohio to end its participation in all federal, pandemic-related unemployment benefit programs due to a workforce shortage.  People can return to work, there's tons of good paying jobs with some of the highest pay rates I've seen in years for entry level workers looking to get a career started.  There is literally no excuse for people not to have jobs at the moment and those of us who have been working and doing the right thing, think it's time for others to do the same.
