Why this petition matters

Access to up-to-date, correct, and verifiable data is a critical component to many researchers, including FinTech startups, <10MM AUM family offices, hedge funds, and others that don't have the same access to liquidity that others have access to. It is fundamentally un-American that the only people that have access to accurate financial data are massive market makers - this forces retail investors into poor position entry with 15+ minute delays. With Coronavirus and other economically impactful events in recent history, this is unfair to individual investors.

How can the American public trust that you will take their considerations seriously when Bloomberg Terminal costs 15,000 per year, with no student or SMB discounts? It seems extremely unfair that firms like Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Citigroup, Citadel, SIG, etc. are able to participate in market activities only because of their massive scale and wealth when others who are interested and capable of paying a smaller order of magnitude of that, simply cannot even look at economic numbers, just because they are individuals and not massive corporations.

I think that I, as well as many others, would feel much more confident in your ability to relate to normal humans, if you actually allow a research/SMB exemption for individuals that are trying to gain access to financial data if they have a net worth of less than 30K, or if the corporation is making less than 250K.
