According to a 2019 report on The Guardian Website and Business AM, Nigeria loses $60bn (about N21.4 trillion) annually to foreign countries by hosting its institutions’ and businesses’ websites abroad. While the local Hosting Companies are doing well in the shared-hosting business, they still lack the capabilities and funding to provide a cost-effective Cloud/VPS hosting service that won't hurt the individual and business. 

The world is moving far away from shared-hosting into a cloud base solution, but Nigerians and Africans are getting the short end of the stick due to the high cost of purchasing cloud-based hosting services. While others will call on the Government to provide aid and solution to this problem, I believed individuals or companies with the funding capabilities and licenses should be the frontier. Recently, I learnt that Globacom Limited has a government-approved license to run a cloud-based business, this is where I see an opportunity call on the right person to come to the rescue.

What Nigerians and Africans need is a cost-effective cloud hosting service that doesn't; require the use of dollars to obtain as dependency on the dollar is affecting us seriously. We need an operator that could compete flawlessly with Amazon AWS, Vultr, Digital Ocean in terms of pricing. We need a cloud hosting service that will beat down the market price by 50-70%. I am currently using a provider in Europe who is doing just exactly this for over nine years and has not run out of business.

Hello, Mr Mike Adenuga, you did this many years ago when you disrupted the pay-by-minute call tariff, becoming the first Nigeria Telecom operator to introduce pay-by-seconds. Now we don't want to wait for the dollar's best, we want to start paying by Naira. If you can do this for us, the whole Nigerian Developer community owes you patronage and allegiance. I know you can do and this is worth trying.

Talking about cloud hosting, I am referring to cloud space where I can host my web application and website, not just the file storage.

This petition is an appeal to Mr Mike Adenuga the Chairman/CEO of Globacom Limited, to use his/their capabilities to provide to us a cost-effective (as in cheap) Cloud/VPS hosting that we can purchase with Naira.
