*Honk Honk* Decreasing Appliance Costs for Street Vendors

Because of the high cost for vendors licenses in Santa Ana, most sell illegally and can be arrested, or fined. There are many vendors trying to support their families selling without a license, the reason being because of the large cost to obtain a license. Racial profiling adds to the problem. Not only is it difficult to acquire a license but also select carts are approved for vendors to use by the county.

Countless articles have been written on the conflict between Santa Ana and illegal street vendors. There is thought to be more than 300 vendors on the streets of Santa Ana. Laws have been in place issuing a 90 minuted move period while carting, as well as  $2,000.00 for a permanent street spot.

We advocate for those who want to sell goods as a street vendor but cannot afford to purchase appliances from manufactures approved by the county. In addition we would like to petition accessibility of vendor licenses due to the extensive process and high pricing on permits and licenses, as well as getting more brand appliances approved by the county.
