Please join me in signing this petition for the safety of our children. The 2021/2022 school year has already begun and there are some blaring issues within the middletown school district.
State guidelines call for masking and social distancing of three feet for students yet they are shoulder to shoulder awaiting bus pickup at the high school. To make matters worse they are then crammed onto busses (many three to a seat) and overflowing into the aisles.
While children don't typically experience severe complications from covid 19 many of these students do pose a risk to infant siblings, compromised household members, and older relatives who are taking care of them.
In order to address this situation the district must offer a virtual opportunity for parents who feel that their children would be safer.
We are the parents and grandparents, and we do not co-parent with the government or the school district. We as parents and guardians have a right to decide what is best for our families and children.
