Middlesex University to provide a no detriment policy to all remaining assessments of 2021
Why this petition matters
Due to the unfortunate circumstances of the pandemic, universities have been forced to close many of their facilities and students have been asked to attend lectures and tutorials online.
Despite not having the same access to facilities and level of teaching, we still pay the full amount of fees and are given the same level of work. This is taking a toll on our mental health and our educational performance. Working from home has caused many students to struggle. Working conditions are often confined to a small bedroom with limited space. Many feel as if they can not leave their room as they have too much to get done, this is taking a toll on the mental health of students.
Last year, Middlesex University put in place a no detriment policy which relieved many students and allowed them to feel more relaxed and able to cope with the workload alongside the stress of the pandemic.
The government have already cancelled exams for GCSE and A-Level students, but we are yet to hear of any support for the many students at university.
We wish for the same policy to be in place for students studying from 2020-2021, as we are still struggling to deal with the constant changes of tiered systems and lockdowns.
