Mid-Ulster Council intend to introduce charges to some free off street parks and increase charges to some existing pay parks.. This is their proposal since taking over control of car parks from the DFI, which is out to consultation.
Mid Ulster Council have a opportunity to make all car parks free and remove the financial burden and inconvenience to shoppers: In addition free parking would aid small retailers who have continually been driven out of business with out of town Super stores, which offer free parking.
This campaign is to unite towns people and small retailers in a campaign to have all off street car parks in Mid-Ulster free Of charges. The campaign calls on the Mid-Ulster council to exercise its authority and carry out the wishes of the people.
Car park charges are an imposition to retail workers, and are an effective pay cut. Many workers have to return to the car park several times during their working day to renew their parking tickets. Those who have not renewed their ticket in time, and have ended up being fined.
