nikki clawson started this petition to Mid East Antrim Council

We are collecting signatures in order to show peoples support to the council, how much we would like to have a local dog park much like other councils have implemented. These will be forwarded along with the proposal.

We are going to intially propose that this is implemented as a trial within Shaftesbury Park as it already has a no lead law, the area is spacious and has two areas which are not used for events so therefore are unlikely to cause any upset to any other organisers.

As the park already holds a no lead law, dogs are free to exercise here. However there is other exercise groups and local joggers who also enjoy the park, which at times can be problematic with dogs who are a bit excitable. So installing a safe environment for the dogs to play in, train and socialise , means that everyone can enjoy the park without incident.

After the trial has proven successful we hope that the council would then install permanent fixtures, possibly some seating as well as an additional bin to keep the area clean. Once we have a permanent facility we would hope that local rehoming charities could hold events here, as well as possibly bringing back the fun local dog shows that used to be held in the Town Hall.

We appreciate that you have taken the time to provide your support, every signature will help to  encourage the council to hopefully bringing these facilities into reality.

Many thanks.
