I am so disappointed and my heart aches with this budget cut!! The Program Unit Funding, which follows children through early education, will no longer apply to kindergarten students. Instead, the funding will be rolled into the new Specialized Learning Support grant, which allocates money in a general envelope for the entire school. I’m almost certain that there isn’t a mandate on how much money is allocated for different areas...so the students that need the most supports are the ones that will feel it the most. 

This is not only affecting my immediate family it’s detrimental to thousands of kiddos that need the most support.
My daughter has a right to an inclusive education that supports all of her needs, giving her the tools to succeed and be as independent as she possibly can. Inclusive facilities are not only beneficial for my child but for all of her peers around her. This teaches REAL life skills of acceptance, compassion and opens little minds to see that everyone doesn’t fit in the same box and that’s OK...we just need to change the box...not the kiddos!!

Everyone knows that a inclusive society is built on playgrounds and in schools. Now it seems after taking amazing and imperative steps forward this is bringing us back to segregated classrooms where children with disabilities are clustered together!! HOW IS THIS OK? 
This new funding model is not supported by best practices in the research for inclusive early childhood services. It will have a huge negative  impact on the children and families that are forced to have less options which mutes their voice to advocate for their child, changing the trajectory of their already impacted life. 
ALL CHILDREN ARE OUR FUTURE!! THIS IS NOT OK!! 
HELP OUR KIDS THAT DON’T HAVE A VOICE!
