Why this petition matters

Started by Annesha Mistry

After 70 years of Independence, over two crore children (NSS-2014) remain out-of-school in India. Most of these children are from the marginalized sections of the society who were made to drop out of their schools at a very young age to earn bread for a living. Children of sex workers and domestic help didn't even have the opportunity to go to school. The conditions are worse for minor girls who were sometimes even forced to marry because their parents could not afford their education anymore.

It focuses on providing education to children who come from families where education cannot be afforded, girl children, street children, and disabled children. I believe that we, the youth of this country can volunteer and lend our hands to the children of our own country.

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world and the most effective way to break out of the cycle of poverty." I am fortunate enough to have parents who gave me the best education they could afford but many children in our country are not that fortunate. So I would like to utilize my advantage and work for this cause to ensure that children get the education they deserve. That would help them to become independent as individuals and when the right time comes, they can contribute to the development of this society as well.

Thank you,

Annesha Mistry
