Skype is a telecommunications application software product owned by Microsoft that specializes in providing video chat and voice calls from computers, tablets, and mobile devices via the Internet to other devices or telephones/smartphones.
As of August 2017, Signing-in is now not possible for devices with Windows Phone 8.1. Microsoft, strangely does not allow Sign-in while the app is still available on Windows Store. Presumably, they will remove the app in near future.
There is a vast majority of people still using Lumia 520/525, 530, 620/625, 720, 630/635, 820, 920, 925, 1020 and much more. Discontinuing one of their own apps for the sake of windows 10 mobile promotion is a shame. People who bought the Windows 8.1 devices trusted Microsoft to provide support, at least for Microsoft's own apps. It is a shame that they are supporting rival Android more than their own Legacy Operating System (8.1 debuted just three years ago).
They are many people rely on Skype to call family and friends when they are abroad or in a difficult situation. Using both paid and free schemes, people can connect to each other and have meaningful conversations. Please do not betray your loyal customers. And Please bring back Skype for Windows Phone 8.1, so that millions can easily call their family and friends again.
