Jake Blart started this petition to Michigan State University and

Michigan State University must account for the necessary precautions in order to slow/stop the spread of COVID-19. One aspect that I feel has been neglected are the Akers quad-style rooms. These rooms should be limited to 2 people rather than 4. While each person is accountable for staying safe and limiting the spread, it is inevitable that college students will meet up with other friends, study groups, and hotspots for contagion- parties and bars. This cluster of students living together in a tightly-packed space allows an asymptomatic roommate to spread COVID amongst the other 3 people living in the same room.

If one of the four roommates were to catch the virus, during the two week incubation period the other roommates will likely unknowingly contract the virus as well. Students are only capable of their own precautions and are unaware how serious the other roommates will take the COVID outbreak. It is an extreme worry that one's safety is largely put at risk in a four person room.

Stated on the liveon website, 'We will continue to ensure furniture placement does not create any egress or code issues." This does NOT take into account the spread of germs on shared surfaces like doorknobs, dressers, showers, toilets, sinks, and the common area in the dorm room. The allowance of 4 students living in the same area for a semester practically invites a spike in COVID.

Slow the spread. Limit quads to 2 roommates. Less individuals, less chance of contagion.
