Stop Michigan legislature from giving public funds to for-profit charter schools

The state House narrowly passed a charter school bill on January 18, 2018. It would let charter schools qualify for countywide tax millage dollars. That’s money that previously has gone to traditional public schools. It will take away from already cash-strapped traditional public schools – in favor of for-profit institutions. This is not fair!
Why should public funds be passed on to private schools who make a profit for their owners while our public schools lack adequate funding?
The bill needs a final technical vote in the Senate. Then it’s on its way to the governor’s desk.
We must STOP the Michigan legislature from giving away public funds to for-profit charter schools.
