Perry Coleman started this petition to Michigan State Senate

What we are advocating for is Justice, equality and to amend the public act and statue to make the law retroactive for the 650 lifers that has been left behind and forgotten ,as it has been done for the 1000 grams or more offenders. this amendment to the public act will give a broad comprehensive reform to ensure justice for non-violent offenders, save the State money and resources. Keep in mind our goal has a two fold measure. First we want justice for Perry and the other non-violent offender and inform the public and new legislators as to how the drug reforms failed to reach the non-violent prisoners convicted under the OLD law and the many hurdles they have to undergo, while still serving time. (see Bill McCConico letter whereas he intended in the law to be applied retroactive) The Michigan Supreme court interpreted the law to be applied retrospective. Majority of the new offenders who has served their sentence are home for the same crime, while some of the 650 lifers are still in prison serving double and triple their sentences and still on parole.Second We urge the public to contact their Senators, House of Representatives and ask them to introduce and support a bill to amend public act and statute MCL 791.234(10) to amend the language to make the law to applied retroactive. This law amendment will permit the prisoners sentenced under the OLD LAW to go back to court with this issue . We pray that each person interested in helping with this issue will get at least 5 people to sign this petition. write or email and call these state representatives urging them to address and support this amendment. Below is a contact lit for the law makers who can make a difference for our cause.
