Without the chance to participate in high-quality early childhood programs like child care, Early Head Start, early intervention, and home visiting, gaps can appear early, sometimes even before a child's first birthday. That means that by the time some children reach preschool, they are already playing catch-up.
For babies like Rodney, who has developmental delays and parents who are low-income despite working two jobs, quality early learning opportunities will make all the difference. We want elected officials to expand investments in early learning for infants and toddlers, so all young children start school ready to learn.
