As a nutrition major in college I know how important diet and exercise is for a human being. It is not about being skinny, it is more about how long and how well of a lifestyle you would like to live in the future. The freshman 15 is very common and it comes from eating unhealthy and lack of exercise. I think if college kids were given a class that they had to take to exercise at least three times a week it would increase overall fitness and a reduction in the freshman 15.
