Hannah Suit started this petition to First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama and

In public schools like mine young female girls are supposed to dress appropriately for teachers and students. We are not allowed to show her shoulders or stomachs or too much skin around our chest area. If so, we will immediately be sent to the office and have to be sent a change of clothes. This to me is truly disgusting. Schools are basically telling young females to dress appropriately, because boys don’t know how to keep it in their pants. The more disturbing part is that it’s also distracting for the teachers as well. Here’s one of the problems with the dress code. In the summertime when it’s 99° outside and a young female student decides to wear a crop top or tank top to school because it’s going to be very hot. She gets stopped as soon as she comes in the school doors. A teacher tells her to go straight to the office and she does. When she arrives they call her house and they send her parents to come to the school with a different shirt. The rest of the day she was sweating because of how hot it was in the building and the shirt she had to wear because of dress code. another reason why dress code is a problem is what if it’s out of the way for her parents. Even if the young girl did come to school with a tank top and they sent her to the office, what if her parents both worked and it would take her a little bit to get a shirt. She’s being pulled out of class and not being able to learn because apparently her shoulders are too distracting for the students and teachers. She shouldn’t have to miss class just because her shoulders are too distracting. Besides dress code being a problem for students, why is it ever a problem for teachers? Why is the school letting men teachers teach at a school knowing that they might sexualize young female students. At this point schools are just letting men and boys get away with anything. If a male teacher sexualizes a female student you have plenty of options to be able to hire other teachers, who won’t be sexualizing your students. Signing this petition could help women and young girls to finally not have to worry about the problems with dress code. Hopefully this petition can help other public schools as well. I want to make this with peace and not hate. I want to bring unity to men and women all over the world. Thank you and help me but signing this petition!!!
