Pachino Blvd is a small residential street with single family homes. Many families have young children that walk to and from school daily. I have been a resident on this street, in the same house, for 45 years.  Unfortunately over the years it has become a thoroughfare for exiting and entering the 401. Traffic has not only multiplied but the drivers have become more careless. They speed around the corners, often ignoring the stop signs, making it terribly dangerous for pedestrians, especially children. They tailgate making it dangerous, and sometimes impossible, to enter and exit our driveways. I have grandchildren that live across the street and are at an age that can walk to and from our homes on their own. Because of this dangerous issue it is very uncomfortable to allow them this independence.  I am strongly recommending that funds be allotted for the installation of speed bumps. This will encourage drivers to slow down and be more aware of pedestrians, especially before and after school and during rush hour.  It’s a small street therefore should be very affordable. Being proactive and taking action now makes sense before something tragic happens. This is a petition to support the installation of speed bumps along Pachino Blvd. between Pharmacy Ave. And Victoria Park.
