We need Harvard Pilgrim Health Care to provide Coverage to ALL women for 3D mammography

I am 50 years old and have a family history of breast cancer. I have also experienced call backs with 2D mammography which causes a great deal of anxiety and uncertainty, not to mention time spent away from work to get additional, often unnecessary, additional imaging.
3D mammograms are covered and reimbursed for both Medicare and Medicaid patients in Maine, but Harvard Pilgrim Health Care does NOT cover for their Commercial patients which creates 2 standards of care. I became aware in January of 2017 that Harvard Pilgrim covers 3D Mammography in the state of CT but not in ME, MA, and NH. Through “Access America” Harvard Pilgrim has a strategic business & marketing partnership with UHC. Effective April 1, 2017 UHC covers 3D mammography for all of their members. In fact all National Payers; Aetna, Cigna, Anthem and UHC all cover 3D mammography.
Today, I want people to join me in demanding that Harvard Pilgrim Health Care cover and reimburse for 3D mammography for all members in all HPHC eligible states; ME, NH, MA, and CT.
As I learned more about 3D mammography and the fact that it has a 30% reduction in additional imaging (call backs), and an increase of 41% in the detection of invasive breast cancer, I realized that every woman enrolled in coverage of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care needs access and coverage of this life saving mammogram.
Please join me in asking Harvard Pilgrim Health Care of ME, MA, NH, And CT to let every screening patient have access and coverage of 3D mammography so that ALL women have access to the best mammogram that is proven to diagnose cancer at its earliest stages and maximize quality of life.
