Call for Indiana University to recognize Indigenous Peoples' Day in place of Columbus Day

Christopher Columbus is responsible for the torture, rape, and murdering of thousands of Native peoples. This man was no hero and should no longer be idolized for the invasion of occupied lands, masked as a "discovery" of the new world.
Instead of honoring this man, we can use this day to realize and remember the pain that millions of Native peoples suffered throughout our nation's history. We can also recall the tremendous achievements of the original inhabitants of our continent and celebrate their resilience.
After the change is made, Indiana University will be in solidarity with the many entities (including various universities, cities, counties, and states throughout the US) that have already made this change. Help us make the change too by signing this petition!
