Revert changes to Seneca PR and GR co-op program

The students of PR and GR feel cheated by the decision of Seneca College to change the co-op program halfway through the second semester. Students began their co-op job searches and were suddenly told that they would no longer qualify as "co-op" students. This decision will impact the ability of many students to find co-op placements.

The students entered the school and enrolled for the program for co-op, not for WIL. This bait and switch is unacceptable and breaks the trust between school administrators and students. The decision should have been communicated clearly to all affected students as soon as possible, not seven weeks into the second semester, and on the last day of class before a study break.

The students in public relations and government relations at Seneca@York wish to see the following changes:

1) All current co-op students (those who began the program in January 2017) remain in co-op and are not transferred to the new WIL model.

2) Allow for current co-op students to now opt-out of co-op and receive a refund for their co-op fees.
