Karen Saffari started this petition to Michael Loguercio, Brookhaven Town Councilman, District 4

The Town of Brookhaven proposing to change the zoning laws in order to allow the company The Crest Group to knock down 52.95 acres of natural environment.  This development is to be built in Bellport just east of Station Road, north of the Sunrise Service Road and south of Woodside Avenue.   They are proposing to erect: a 3 story assisted living facility, a 2 story mini- storage unit, a planned retirement community, 160 units of multifamily, affordable housing, and other assorted retail.  The only entrance will be through the neighborhood directly adjacent to the new development on S. Village Dr. In the Horizon Village neighborhood.  The last information I've received is that there will only be a 25ft buffer between the existing neighborhood and the planned development.

How will this effect our community? The Town outlines how it will impact the: environment, human health, water, energy, transportation, police, fire and emergency services, light and noise pollution, and South Country School District.  Please read the full impacts in the document here: www.brookhavenny.gov/DocumentCenter/View/951/Final-Scoping-Document-for-the-Change-of-Zone-for-The-Crest-Town-Center-at-Bellport-PDF&ved=2ahUKEwivjYDel8reAhVrQt8KHVkbDbgQFjAAegQIAhAB&usg=AOvVaw373-D4Wb_nEY58J38xMSBB

I think personally, the impact on the ground, surface and water supply where it states "Water supply demand from the proposed action, may exceed safe and sustainable withdrawl capacity rate of the local supply or aquifer,"  It also says it may "introduce contaminants" to that same water supply.

The transportation effects at the intersections of Station Rd and Sunrises north and south service roads, as well as the intersections by Woodside Ave. and Station Rd. and Woodside Ave and Sawgrass Dr. are also a huge reason for concern.

I do not think that this project will bring positive change to our community or our environment. Please help me by speaking out against the development of this project.  I'm asking that you, not only sign this petition, but also share if you care about the environment, or the community of Bellport.
