Save the Tree!

This petition had 2,594 supporters

Help save this cherished family tree. This 200-year Live oak has lived through 3 generations of the Warbach family. Ellisburg Chester Warbach first came to America in 1858 with his family searching for the right home to start a farm and settle down. After living in harsh conditions for a year on the road, the Warbachs found a simple plot of land in Bryan, TX. For years, generations of children have grown with this tree, and they see it as an eternal part of their home. Unfortunately, the last surviving great-grandson of Ellisburg Chester Warbach, Jonathan Warbach, recently passed away after suffering from a rare form of emphysema. The Warbach family decided to sell their land in order to pay off the medical debts from Jonathan Warbach’s hardships. The new owner now plans to build a meat processing plant on the land; however, the blueprints for the new facility require all of the trees on the property to be cut down and removed permanently. The new owner plans on beginning construction on January 7, 2018. There have been arrangements made to save this tree on the property if our petition reaches 2,000 signatures before January 1, 2018. Please sign this petition to keep a beloved piece of history alive.
