Ban the sale of disposable BBQ’s to reduce littering, fire risk and injury.

For more than two weeks now, I have seen the firefighters, army and mountain rescue fighting fire on the burning moorlands in Saddleworth and followed the news images of the same on Winter Hill, in Staffordshire, other parts of Lancashire and Cheshire.  Each weekend and dry day that passes increases the risk of another fire.  This risk is significantly increased by disposable BBQs being brought onto our beautiful moors, and hills and into our national parks.  These BBQ’s are already banned in many parks but still people bring them in and leave them unattended.

Not only that but often disposable BBQs are left behind, still hot, causing injury to unsuspecting people in the vicinity. As in this case:

This petition asks Michael Gove (Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs of the United Kingdom) to advocate the ban of the sale and manufacture of all disposable barbecues by the way be of 2018.
