Crime rate is rising! Why? What can we do? How could we solve this? These are the questions I ask myself. I am a secondary school pupil and I am concerned my the crime rates rising, within the areas of young children up to teenagers. 

I started my petition thinking that longer prison sentences would work the best. After lots of research I discovered that just putting someone in prison did not reform them. It cost a lot of money, it required a lots of infrastructure to support longer prison sentences, and people still reoffended. 

After, looking at several possibilities i discovered rehabilitation was the best way. IF the criminals were able to be have an education, have social support and could grow and fit in with society.

Initially, this would cost more money and require more jobs for supporting roles, but in the end we would win with less people offending and less people committing crimes. 

There will always be a minority that will commit crime but lets keep it a minority instead of a majority!!
