The fact that people are dying from police does not necessarily mean it's because of police brutality; the definition of this word is an officer using more force than needed in a situation. Yes, 70% of people were struggling with mental health and/or substance abuse, but these things don't make them any less dangerous. I am only signing this petition because it outlines that police need more training in mental health, as if we could have a unit that could work as a social worker and police officer at the same time it would be exceptional. The only thing is I think TPS need more funding, you can't expect such a money-drained agency to get money from other departments like CID and pump it into training.

Suggest Police Departments do better screening, do it periodically and offer mental health professionals for Police. When we give police, and other first responders, the help they need, this will be a first step in providing it to other citizens in need
