Loved ones, as well as Inmates have all felt the pain of the ongoing pandemic. As many compounds are still in a modified state, family, friends and inmates are all feeling the strain by not being able to visit their loved ones. It has been recognized that FEMALE Federal Prisons have access to Video Visitation while the MALE population does NOT.  Not only is this a gender inequality, but it is also a failed opportunity to reduce crime, contraband, violence, arguments over phone usage and recidivism amongst the male population. In the link attached it was stated by our government officials, and I quote:

”Video Visitation which is available to our FEMALE POPULATION, was made free per Carvajal.”

” Studies have demonstrated that family contact is a valuable source of support during incarceration and that those who maintain contact with their family experience lower rates of recidivism after release,” the senators wrote. 

Even if the video visitation was offered at a low costs why is it NOT AN OPTION for the male population as it is to the female? The children, the families and friends who support our men also need the support of our incarcerated loved ones. Especially with children, who do not understand why they haven’t been able to see their daddy, not even through video. How do you explain that to a child? Why are men not as equally important as our female population in the FBOP? 
Let’s make this change happen! It’s major affects are all the reason to enforce this! All pros and no cons! Let’s reduce recidivism rates, tension, depression, violence, contraband and let’s increase equality, support, and love amongst ALL INMATE POPULATION, not only female. These are fathers, brothers, sons, and in my case my husband. They are just as important as the next human life, male or female!
