The City of Jacksonville unanimously approved the rezoning exception for a liquor store at the current Berkshire Hathaway Realty office at 11576 San Jose Blvd.  The City of Jacksonville did so without adequate notice to the immediately surrounding community, in violation of their own rules.

We will be filing an appeal, and we would like to give the community the opportunity to voice their opinions at the Appeal Hearing, since the community was not properly notified prior to the original hearing.

Mandarin in a nice, clean, safe, family-friendly community.  A 5th liquor store within 1.9 miles of the subject property was opened within the past six months.  The community does not need a 6th liquor store within 1.9 miles.  According to the City, this exception was granted because it could, "promote public health, safety, welfare, morals, order, comfort, convenience, appearance, property, or general welfare."

If the approved exception stands, traffic will be negatively impacted, crime will increase (including in surrounding neighborhoods), the church (which cannot afford their own building) will be forced to relocate, and surrounding property values will decrease 5-10%.
