Boys Scouts of America: Stop the theft of Native America Culture

The Arrow of Light ceremony is an extremely problematic ceremony that steals cultural and religious regalia and sacred ceremony from a marginalized group (Native Americans), that have been decimated by colonialism. This is not the only problematic ceremony or practice in BSA, however this (along with the Order of the Arrow) are most notably theft.

Additionally, the leadership within BSA need to be trained on culturally appropriate terminology and come to an understanding of the use of racial slurs such as IN---N.

See below links regarding cultural appropriation and how it is harmful to marginalized groups.

The Boy Scouts of America teaches specific principles such as honor, responsibility and reverence. Theft from a marginalized culture does not model these principles in the least.

This petition will be handed to BSA once it reaches 1,000 signatures or after 4 weeks, whichever comes first.
