As the Covid19 pandemic situation is getting worse and with the increasing number of cases it can be foreseen that the colleges won't be reopening in 2020. Pandemic has caused severe/irreversible damage to almost all the fields, especially for the research scholars pursuing Doctoral studies (Ph.D) in Indian Universities. The Phd scholars are drawing stipend from their parent institutions for their livelihood and tenure of the PhD are fixed for 5 years. And the experimental work of the PhD students are severely getting effected. The delay in experiments would consequently effect the research output and acceptance of research articles in reputed journals, thus compromising one of the major criteria for the receiving Ph.D degree. The awarded scholarship for PhD is for a period of 5 years and after this tenure they would be completing their degree without scholarship. In nutshell pandemic will cost a year of research work to all PhD scholars and special provisions for increasing the PhD duration with stipend for current batches who are registered as a PhD scholar in the institutions, atleast by 6 months for completion and submission must be provided. This pandemic is a lose-lose situation for each and everyone and together we must stand to fight it.
