Judith Valdez started this petition to Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA)

The MMDA is set to Remove all EDSA provincial bus terminals by June. It is also set to close all provincial bus operations in Metro Manila in May.

The provincial bus terminals affected will then be moved to a terminal in Paso De Blas, Valenzula  (interim) then to the Philippine Arena, Bocaue, Bulacan (permanent) – for passengers coming from the North and; to the Paranaque Intergrated Terminal Exchange and Sta. Rosa Terminal – for passengers coming from the South.

This move is makes it difficult for provincial commuters who travel to and from Metro Manila by land and impairs the capability of bus operators to provide adequate, safe and convenient public transport service.

Consider the following:

1) The commuting public will endure longer travels or delay, since they will have to ride additional or multiple times just to get to their final destination within Metro Manila. Once a provincial passenger has been dropped off at the Integrated Terminal, he/she has to queue and transfer baggage again to take a city bound transport to get to their final destination. Therefore the passenger and baggage will have to endure connecting transport or transfer delay. What could have been achieved in one or two rides would now be made in multiple rides, wasting passengers’ valuable time.

2) The travel cost becomes more expensive. Since passengers and cargo have to take multiple rides to their destination, this will increase travel expense. Added transportation cost consequently deals a major blow to the daily budget, and ultimately, one’s living wage.

3) There are inadequate or no provisions for vehicular maintenance bays, bus crew rest areas, passenger lavatories and parking areas for BOTH city and provincial transport.

Let us stand together by signing this petition to prevent this move that will adversely affect the riding public.
