The Pitch User started this petition to Metro Palace

Bars are places where men show up to un-wind, to relax and to have a good time. The Metro Palace, Ascendas IT Park, Taramani is one such nerve center that Chennai inhabitants whom work within the IT Park, spend a lot time in, because of its wonderful ambiance, culinary variety and obviously, yeah, the alcohol.

While a lot my colleagues(and myself included) are frequent visitors for the past two years to the The Pitch , and have always enjoyed the hospitality there, one rule that happened to be a complete turn off was that, the pub has a rigid policy in place not to play any Tamil numbers. This is a bit surprising and borderline offensive, as my guess would be, more than 60% of people who show up at the pitch are native to the city that speak the tongue.

Business run on their own terms and values, as they see fit. And pubs will have a standard to adhere to. This would be understandable if the songs were only in English which would satisfy all demographic pockets. But we see the DJs performing on Bollywood numbers alone.  Playing one or two token Tamil music would be a good moral and logical boost to the business, considering the kind of crowd it pulls in. When inquired the employees mentioned that the instruction they received was to play songs the are only in Hindi.

Even the my friends who work at the Pitch have resonated with this sentiment.  While it is understandable that language and how it is welcomed in a social construct is a sensitive issue in Tamil Nadu, the petition however is on a much lighter tone to just initiate a conversation with the right folks and gather impetus online, with those, who resonate with the same belief. The petition is only to be heard and to help the Pitch have a diverse, welcoming and inclusive atmosphere so everybody can have a good time. Sign up to vouch your support so this could be taken forward.
