Stop including gender bias on monthly train tickets.
The Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) is raising the ticket fares on the Metro North line by 9% and currently has a policy of including a M for male and F for female on tickets. For couples or friends who work part-time on some portion of the train line, this would increase their monthly expenses by 16%. That is unacceptable. The current M/F system allows people of the same sex to use the pass, so why can't we just have a 1 pass/1 ride option? Stop the gender bias so that the paid ticket can be used as a PAID ticket.
- Metro North
The MTA is increasing Metro North train ticket fares, on average, by 9%. Working people who use a monthly train ticket may have to spend an extra $40-80/month. Stop including gender bias on monthly train tickets and allow a 1 ticket/1 ride option for everyone so people can continue to use the train since they paid for it.
