Let's END the SCAMMERS and CRIMINAL ACTIVITY on Instagram
Let's END the SCAMMERS and CRIMINAL ACTIVITY on Instagram

As a small business owner, life constantly throws challenges your way. From the near impossible budget acrobatics you have to do daily to cover all the bills, to finding new and interesting opportunities to grow, we (whether we’re a sole proprietorship of 1 or an LLC 100) are always walking the line. It seemed like a dream to have social media platforms like Instagram, allowing us to connect with potentially millions at a low cost to us. And so we brought into this social media space, set up our profiles and built our brands, hoping to build our business, thinking that we were safe to grow. That was not the case. Attacks to our brands, our content, our reputations, and our persons happen WEEKLY and, though we’ve reported these attacks (in detail - supplying screen shots, links, and multiple reports from subscribers and us alike) NOTHING IS DONE. Not only is nothing done, but the response to each of these reports continues to be, “they are not in violation of our community guidelines” “ block them”. Only we can’t block them, because they’ve already blocked us so that we don't have access to the reporting tools you provide. Everyday we are attacked. The businesses we hoped to grow, that we use your advertising platforms to promote, are handicapped by these constant attacks and you claim to have no responsibility toward this at all. This is heinous. And criminal. We, a collective of small business owners constantly being targeted ( and it is my hope that this targeting is not religious biased specific, though there is strong evidence to support this possibility because many of us are spiritual advisors, astrologers, or tarot card readers, long stereotyped as scammers ourselves, making us perfect targets for these attacks) are insisting on justice. Were you a real-world landlord you’d have legal obligations to protect us. And in truth, Instagram is part of our real world now. Our everyday life. Yet you’ve built a space that allows and even assists criminal activity. How can this be? We are petitioning Meta, holder of Instagram, to live up to their claims of ethics and progress and take action against these perpetual attacks. Live up to your advertising as a safe and valued partner of all business, large and small, and actually do something to help us protect what we’ve worked so hard to build. Please sign this petition as someone who has been effected by these scams or someone who just cares enough to end it, and then please pass this petition on for others to sign. Together, we're stronger.
