Met Police to Introduce Strict Recruitment Processes and Training, Plus Regular MH Checks

The general public has not trusted the Metropolitan Police Service for years due to their mistakes, cover ups and lack of remorse. A service like this should be learning from their mistakes and using the lessons learned for best practices and improvements moving forwards.
I lost my dad in 2013 following police contact. He was a 77 year old man suffering from dementia when two Met police officers left him stranded in the middle of nowhere. A few days later, he was found frozen to death in a field just feet away from where he last spoke to those officers. These officers were not dismissed but instead, they were given paid time-off for stress. I'm not sure what message this gives to other officers but its not a positive one. Even light desk duties is no consequence for bad behaviour.
Do we really want to see ads on Facebook advertising to join the Met? It's just not very professional in my opinion so I'm calling for the government to fund a strict recruitment process, improved training for the Metropolitan Police Service plus regular mental health checks for all officers.
These changes will hopefully result in better police officers and positive community engagement which will develop trust over time.
Please sign the petition to make these changes. Thank you.
To all the families worldwide who have lost loved ones following police contact and have yet to receive the justice and closure you deserve, you are in my prayers ❤
