Release TASC Exam Scores
This petition made change with 23 supporters!
As of January 2, 2014 the New York State Education Department
(NYSED) selected a new high school equivalency exam. The exam
taken before January 2 was know as the General Educational Development
(GED®) the NYSED replaced this exam with what is know as the Test Assessing
Secondary Completion(TASC™). According to the NYSED website it
states that the TASC™ "is a secure, reliable and valid instrument that is
used to verify that examinees have knowledge in core content areas
equivalent to that of graduating high school seniors."in other words
this test is aligned with the Common Core Standards.
Since January over 3,000 Students were sent to take this exam and up
to today not one of these students have received their scores. The
NYSED is holding the scores for this exam. Holding the scores of this
TASC exam is preventing students to move forward. None of these students
will be able to apply to college or trade school until these scores are released.
Students have the right to know their scores. If you agree I urge you to sign
this petition to the Chancellor of the NYSED Merryl H. Tisch and join in the
fight to get the scores of over 3,000 New York Students released.
