The word “Acquire” is bothersome. The c isn’t doing anything. It’s gross to look at, and I always think it’s supposed to be spelled “Aquire”. Whenever I’m reminded that it’s wrong, it’s incredibly disappointing. Also a friend of mine disagrees with me on this and because his preference is the correct spelling I think it would help my side of the argument were that to change. I figured if we could get Meriam Webster or some other dictionary on board then that would count as changing the spelling. Of course, all the other uses of the word would change, like “aquisition”, “aquires”, etc. Please sign this petition. I’m trying to get a gross looking word to look less gross, and I think you all should care about this as much as I do.
