Mercy Medical Center, Springfield City Councilors: Immediately cease any further dismantling, gutting and demolition of Allis Mansion.

The Allis Mansion is part of the unique historical legacy of Springfield, MA, representing one of the best examples of Second French Empire mansions in the city. The decision by Mercy Hospital to suddenly demolish the building has lacked overall transparency with the community in which it operates and has not taken into full consideration an exploration of viable alternative options to demolition.  A full review of those options should take place between Mercy Hospital, the Springfield City Councilors and the community to determine if an alternative solution to demolition can be found prior to proceeding further.

Mercy Medical Center, Springfield City Councilors
Immediately cease any further stripping, dismantling, gutting and demolition of Allis Mansion pending further discussion and review.

The Allis Mansion is part of the unique historical legacy of Springfield, MA, representing one of the best examples of Second French Empire mansions in the city. The sudden decision by Mercy Hospital to demolish the building has lacked overall transparency with the community in which it operates and has not taken into full consideration an exploration of viable alternative options. A full discussion and review of those options should take place between Mercy Hospital, the Springfield City Councilors, the historical and preservation societies of Springfield, as well as the community, to determine if an alternative solution to demolition can be found prior to proceeding in any act that will further deteriorate the condition and integrity of the building.
