My name is Taylor Elizabeth Moore I’m a 16 year old transgender student at Sharon city school district. This is my story. Today In 2nd period I was called to the principals office and he told me that I’m not allowed to use the ANY of the restrooms or locker rooms I have to report to the nurse. he said this was to “protect the comfortability of the students” when you use the word protect your insinuating that trans people are a threat I am far from a threat  I’m a strong believer in pacifism and words over violence and would never purposely hurt another person today in 7th period lunch I was using the restroom the female restroom as I should and was confronted by a female staff member and forced out I was then sent to the office and missed the first portion of 8th period  to add to that using the nurse restroom would be way out of the way of my schedule I’m a 10th grade student and most of my courses are on the 3rd floor the nurses office is on the first floor not to mention I have the basic human right to use PUBLIC RESTROOMS mike Fitzgerald the principal said to me that I would be able to use the correct gender affiliated bathroom once I complete my transition I can’t get the sexual reassignment surgery until I am 18 years old the school has no policy on transgender students 99% of my friends are women and none of them have issues with me using the restroom there hasn’t been a single report so it continues to show that mike Fitzgerald is not comfortable with the LGBT community or their right to express themselves or use the correct gendered bathrooms
