Courtney Behn started this petition to Merced Union High School District

Coach Tyler Rogers took over the girls' basketball program at El Capitan High School in 2017, where there had never been success or opportunities provided to any of the players before. In just his second year of coaching, he turned the program's league record of 1-11, last place, to 10-2, second place. He goes above and beyond for his players, from starting an AAU program for young girls to provide them opportunities to be coached and compete at the highest level, to sending his high school players' academic and basketball information out to college coaches to help them get recruited. In the past 3 seasons, he has helped 4 players get college basketball scholarships to great universities. Current players are being seen and recruited. He pushes strong academics, and for those who do not continue their basketball careers after high school, they have become great citizens to society in college and the work field. This precedent has positively influenced younger players currently in the program and the youth of the community. Coach Rogers was released from his coaching position after a miscommunication of the school and violation of COVID-19 regulations. His former, current, and future players, as well as parents, are fighting to get Coach Rogers his position back. He is a gateway to the future of girls basketball in our community, and he deserves to have his coaching position back.
