Why this petition matters

Started by Aimee Stratta

We are focusing on trying to create a positive impact on the mental health problems that affect the lives of students aged 14 to 24, through our social studies internal. We know that immediate changes to mental health matters in New Zealand is not possible but we hope to bring awareness to this topic by including the funding organizations such as Gumboot Friday and the Youthline given by the government. 90% of people aged from 10 to 24 who have committed suicide had been known to have underlining mental health issues and have contacted organizations such as Youthline. Our group aims to adapt funding allocation to increase the amount of funding these types of groups receive. We want to change the criteria for accessing the mental wellbeing innovation fund and increase the total value of the fund. This will helpfully have a positive impact on mental health and provide people struggling with successful coping strategies and mechanisms.
